You’re now in the second trimester and may be feeling more energetic. Many expectant parents begin to notice a small baby bump, and baby is growing rapidly with some exciting new milestones.

Breathing practice begins
Baby is practicing breathing movements by inhaling amniotic fluid, which helps lung development.
Baby can hear you
The ears are developing and baby may start to hear muffled sounds from the outside world, including your voice.
Fine hair appears
Soft hair called lanugo begins to cover baby’s body to help regulate temperature.
Your baby is about the size of an apple.
Pregnancy Symptoms during Week 15

As your uterus expands, you may feel sharp or aching pain in your lower belly or sides, this is normal.

You may notice more vaginal discharge, which helps protect against infections, but contact your provider if it changes color or smells unusual.

Your growing uterus may start to press against your stomach, causing occasional discomfort.

Fatigue from early pregnancy may ease up, giving you a welcomed boost of energy.

Now is a great time to book your anatomy scan, typically done between 18 and 22 weeks.

Make sure you're getting enough iron, calcium, and protein to support baby’s bone and muscle growth.
